If You Can't Stand the Heat...

...use tongs. I don't like to cook or bake. Luckily for me my partner is a wonderful cook. She worked her way through Graduate School in several different restaurants as a cook. I know I'm spoiled, but don't hate me.

Even though I don't cook I do love vintage kitchenware. In fact, I have more kitchen collectibles than anything else. Wonder why that is? My mother, grandmother, and great grandmother were wonderful homemakers. They loved to cook, sew and craft. Vintage kitchenware gives me yummy memories of growing up enjoying their home cooked meals. I just didn't inherit their genes I guess.

If you love kitchen collectibles please check out my reprise shop on etsy for vintage kitchen items. Hey, you don't have to use them. They look wonderful sitting on a shelf or in a china cabinet too. Trust me.

Card Me

Can you believe that Christmas is only 2 months away? In this day and age I've noticed that people don't send as many Christmas cards as they used to in the past. I wonder why that is. Could it be the cost of stamps? Or the digital world we now live in? Maybe it is a combination of reasons. I love getting Christmas cards in the mail. I really love vintage cards too. The illustrations are often so charming. They also fill me with warm feelings of Christmas past. I have added several vintage Christmas cards from 1950 to my reprise shop at etsy. They are wonderful reminders of the time when everyone sent paper Christmas cards to family and friends.

See Spot Run

Those of us of a certain age certainly remember learning how to read with books featuring Dick, Jane and Spot. After I learned how to read I became an avid reader. I remember being so into a book that I would sneak a flashlight into bed with me so that I could read under the covers after I was supposed to be fast asleep.

I still love reading. My all time favorite writer is John Steinbeck. He had such a beautiful mastery of story telling that his words 'paint a picture' for me. As I read, I really can see and experience the places and people he is describing. I also love history books, biographies and historical fiction. I still enjoy reading and especially looking at the charming illustrations of the books I grew up with as a little girl. I have quite a collection of vintage children's books. They bring a smile to my face and pleasant memories as I view them. Please check out the vintage books I have listed in my reprise shop at etsy. Run Reader, Run!

Say Cheese

I treasure the family photos that my grandmother and great-grandmother passed down to me. They also left me some wonderful family history and it stirred up my passion for genealogy. While out looking for vintage treasures I sometimes come across old family photos. I can't help but wonder about the people in the photos.

I have no way of knowing who they are but they have been given a new home with me. I also know that they are sometimes given new lives as parts of homemade projects like journals, cards and scrapbooks. I will be offering some of my vintage photo finds at my reprise etsy store. If you are a crafter that loves to include vintage photos in your projects please give these photos a new home.

Can You Believe?

Can you believe that in a little over 2 months it will be Christmas? Here in southern California we are still experiencing warm weather. We don't really get to see the seasons change like the rest of the country does. Here we are still wearing shorts and flip flops while the rest of the country is bundling up in coats and scarfs. I would love to see the colorful autumn trees that others get this time of year.

Have you begun to think about what you will be getting your friends and family for Christmas? If you know someone that loves vintage items I invite you to take a look at my shop reprise at etsy. If you love antiques and vintage items it is okay to treat yourself to something too. You deserve it! Keep warm and enjoy your autumn.
