Vintage Thingie Thursday: Purple Bottles

This is my photograph for Vintage Thingie Thursday hosted by Coloradolady. These are three of my favorite antique bottles. I love them because they have turned purple with age. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: On My Desk

This is my photograph for Vintage Thingie Thursday hosted by Coloradolady. I thought I would share a few antique items that are on my vintage oak desk. The pocket watch is broken but I still love it. I also love old cameras. I use the Brownie camera to take TTVF (through the viewfinder) photos with my digital camera. The set of leatherbound books are signed 1815 by an ancestor and were passed down through the family. The little envelope is filled with miniture photographs from "Cave of the Winds". Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!

Reprise Loves: Green Depression Glass

I grew up with a mom who loves antiques. We spent lots of time going to garage sales, thrift stores, antique stores and auctions. So, it was natural that I would love vintage items too.
My mom has collected green depression glass for over 40 years. This past summer I went to visit her and she said that the collection was now mine! I was able to bring some of the collection home with me in my carry on bag on the plane. Over the next couple of years I'll do the same each time I visit. I really don't want to ship such precious items and chance anything getting broken. It may take me awhile to get it all back to my house since it is about 500 pieces of green depression glass. I am so proud and excited to be the keeper of my mom's collection and I look forward to passing it down to my own children someday. Thanks mom! :)

Did your mom pass down any special vintage item to you? Do you collect antique glass? I'd love to hear your stories.

Vintage Thingy Thursday: Vintage Montage

Photograph © 2010 by Reprise Vintage

For Vintage Thingy Thursday I thought I would have a little fun using some of my favorite vintage items. I created this montage highlighting a photograph of my Grandfather and his siblings. My grandfather is the youngest one in the chair sitting next to his sister. I love this photograph! My grandfather was a 'toe head' when he was young. In latter life his hair turned almost black. The antique book belonged to my sweetie's Great-Grandmother. The little angel is part of an antique postcard. The old pocketwatch I bought on Etsy. I love old coins! I've included some Indian Head pennies and two Walking Liberty quarters. These old keys came from a friend whose Grandfather owned a key machine. Hope you enjoy this vintage montage of some of my favorite things.

Reprise Loves: Old Bottles

Photograph © 2010 by Reprise Vintage

I love old bottles! I especially love my collection of old bottles becauses I dug most of them up myself. No, I didn't go digging around in a thrift or antique store for them, though I do scoop up any old bottle I find in one of those too. I literally dug these up from the ground. Treasure hunting in old dumps (mainly old farms and homesteads) can yield beauties like these! While many broken bottles are found, the occasional intact bottle makes all the hunting worth it.

What do you love and are always on the hunt for?

Can You Believe?

Can you believe that in a little over 2 months it will be Christmas? Here in southern California we are still experiencing warm weather. We don't really get to see the seasons change like the rest of the country does. Here we are still wearing shorts and flip flops while the rest of the country is bundling up in coats and scarfs. I would love to see the colorful autumn trees that others get this time of year.

Have you begun to think about what you will be getting your friends and family for Christmas? If you know someone that loves vintage items I invite you to take a look at my shop reprise at etsy. If you love antiques and vintage items it is okay to treat yourself to something too. You deserve it! Keep warm and enjoy your autumn.
