A Vintage Kind of Love

Today is Valentine's Day...a special day when you express your love to your sweetheart. I still have some of the cards that I received as a child...a long, long time ago. I am in love with the vintage art work on the older cards. In my Reprise Vintage shop I share my love of vintage and retro on cards and many other gift items. Hope your day is filled with love, especially the vintage kind.

As a lover of both history and vintage items I love to go out and find special items to photograph. I think that some vintage items look really great if they are converted to a sepia color...it seems to age them even more. Here are a few of my favorite sepia colored photographs.

Reprise Loves: Old Bottles

I love old bottles! I especially love my collection of old bottles becauses I dug most of them up myself. No, I didn't go digging around in a thrift or antique store for them, though I do scoop up any old bottle I find in one of those too. I literally dug these up from the ground. Treasure hunting in old dumps (mainly old farms and homesteads) can yield beauties like these! While many broken bottles are found, the occasional intact bottle makes all the hunting worth it.

Reprise Loves: Dr Pepper

I'm a Pepper, as are most of my family members. My sweetie brought me home a 12 pack of Dr Pepper made with REAL sugar. Yummy! If that doesn't bring back memories of my childhood, I don't know what else will.

This is an old Dr Pepper advertisment from 1927. Dr Pepper was created in Waco, Texas in 1885 and, as such, is the oldest major soft drink brand in America. It is only natural that my family that has roots in Texas would be such a big fan of this soft drink. Happy 125 Birthday Dr Pepper! Are you a Pepper too?

Love, Love, Love

In the 60's and 70's of my youth "love" and "peace" were major themes. I remember the "Love Story" poster on my wall and doodling "love" all over my "peachy" school folders. Here is a design from my Reprise Vintage shop that takes me back to those days.

50's Love with a Twist

I grew up in the 50's, 60's and early 70's so I have a special place in my heart for those eras. As I tell my children, I'm not old, I'm 'vintage'. I love that I grew up in the era of hot rods, pin-up girls and rock 'n' roll. In my world all of those things are still 'king'. When I create a new design for my Reprise Vintage shop I am greatly influenced by the eras I grew up in. As you can see by this card I added a little twist to celebrate our current era.

A New Year and A New Post

Happy New Year! I've let this blog sit without a new post for too long! It goes to show you that I enjoy reading, photography, and creating over writing. One of my resolutions is to try to post some of my favorite things (especially yummy vintage) on this blog more often. Of course, we all know that most New Year's resolutions are not kept. But it is the thought that counts, right? So here is my first post of the new year.

I've been busy creating Valentine's Day items for my Reprise Vintage shop. Yes, I know that it is only Jan 2nd but many of the items that I have created are perfect for any day of the year. I was pleased to receive a Today's Best Award for the following T-shirt design. It reminds me of the 1970's. I hope you like it too.
